Preparing the device

GridEon ships as a ready-made image. You write it to a microSD card, put the card in the Raspberry Pi and start the device.

Step 1 · Download the GridEon image

Sign in to your GridEon account and download the image for your board (Raspberry Pi or Orange Pi). The file is saved to your computer.

Step 2 · Install a card writing tool

On your computer, install one of these free tools:

Step 3 · Write the image to the card

WarningEverything on the card will be erased. Copy any data you need first.
  1. Insert the microSD card into your computer.
  2. Open the tool and choose the GridEon image downloaded in step 1. In Raspberry Pi Imager, choose Use custom as the operating system.
  3. Choose the microSD card as the target.
  4. Start writing and wait for it and the verification to finish.

Step 4 · Start the device

Remove the card from your computer, put it in the Raspberry Pi and connect power. Continue with Starting the device.

TipThe first start takes a little longer than usual while the system sets itself up. Give it a few minutes before looking for the interface.

Troubleshooting

  • Writing stops with an error: try another USB port or another card reader.
  • The Pi doesn't start (green LED doesn't blink): write the image again or try another card.
