SSH connection

SSH gives you the command line of the GridEon device (Raspberry Pi or mini PC) from the local network. You don't need it for daily use: everything GridEon does is set from the web interface. It helps with troubleshooting or when GridEon support guides you.

Default login

  • Address: the device's network name, for example casa.local, or its IP (shown in GridEon under Settings → Network or in your router's device list).
  • User: grideon
  • Default password: solarpulse123
Change the default passwordThe default password is the same on every GridEon device from the image and it is public. Anyone on your local network could log in with it. Change it after the first login (steps below).

Connecting

  • Windows 10 / 11: open PowerShell and type ssh grideon@casa.local (or ssh grideon@192.168.1.50). On the first connection confirm with yes, then type the password. PuTTY works too.
  • macOS / Linux: open Terminal and type the same command.
  • Phone: an SSH app (for example Termius) with the address, user and password above.

The password is not shown while you type it; that's normal.

Changing the default password

  1. Connect over SSH as above.
  2. Type passwd and press Enter.
  3. Type the current password (solarpulse123), then the new password twice. Use at least 10 characters.
  4. password updated successfully appears. From now on you log in with the new password.
Write the new password downThe new password cannot be recovered remotely. If you lose it, the device can be reinstalled from the image (settings and history can be saved from GridEon first).

GridEon support and the password

  • GridEon support's remote access (when you ask for help) uses a support key, not the password. Changing the password does not affect remote access.
  • For some system tasks (administrator commands, sudo) support will ask you for the new password. Without it, support can still read the logs and check that everything works.

Useful commands

  • systemctl status grideon · GridEon service status
  • journalctl -u grideon -n 100 · latest GridEon messages
  • sudo systemctl restart grideon · restart the service
  • ls -l /dev/serial/by-id/ · connected USB–RS485 adapters
  • hostname -I · the device's IP addresses
Local network onlySSH on the device is reachable only from your home network. Don't open port 22 to the internet on your router; for access from anywhere use the GridEon link in your account.
